This becomes clear from the fact that the first non-Congress Chief Minister of the state and originator of DMK, Dr. C.N. Annadurai, used to indite flick scripts prior to his entry into politics. The tradition that started way back in 1960s has continued and is being nourished till date. Besides Annadurai, co-founder Karunanidhi also used to indite cine scripts. M.G. Ramachandran, who founded AIADMK in 1972, was also a very popular person in Kollywood. He won his way to the Chief movie post very easily. And the first woman to become the CM of Tamilnadu, Janaki Ramachandran (M.G..R.'s wife) was also a Dravidian actress. The AIADMK chief and present Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa also had an extremely successful career as an actress prior to her entry into politics.
